Many growers recognise
it takes more than experience and good soils to be competitive these
days. Many have been frustrated by the disjointed way that promised
"technology solutions" have been delivered and how, all to often, such
solutions only provide part of the answer or are inappropriate to local
conditions.
IMT backs the skills and experience of Australian Growers with linked
technologies, science, information and experience.
After listening to many growers express their frustration at how
technology is being delivered to them, IMT has assembled a proven set
of linked technology based solutions that provide growers with an
accessible pathway to achieving sustainable profits. Our emphasis is on
optimising natural resources and initiating precision farming
processes. These processes typically provide growers with an 18 times
return on investment over a three year period.
We often work with locally based agronomists who build on our work by
introducing advanced agronomic processes and specialised "niche"
marketing to further increase grower profits.
IMT's overall approach revolves around developing a clear understanding
of the natural resources (topography, soils and soil condition,
climatic attributes etc.) of a clients property. We work with our
client to develop and implement a Farm
Plan. Depending on the clients requirement, IMT can either develop
the Farm Plan for the client to implement or we can work with the
client over time and provide on-going assistance.
The IMT Farm Plan forms a base that is used to identify resource
management issues impacting on productivity such as saturation, soil
compaction, salinity hazard, sodicity hazard, livestock and climate
etc. Once identified, these issues are ranked in terms of their impact
on productivity and the cost/benefit of remediation. A long term
strategy is then developed to alleviate these problems over time with
the largest yield impacts generally being dealt with first. This
approach often means that the cost of subsequent work in improving
productivity is paid for by productivity gains.
While IMT provides a linked series of processes, we are happy to work
with growers on a one off basis to solve a particular problem or
establish a new system or process.
